The Formula

Four actives.
No filler claims.

Every ingredient in STRND was chosen because there's real research behind it — and we'll tell you exactly how strong that research is. Here's what each one does, and what the science actually shows.

A note on honesty: for some of these, the strongest evidence is in men who are running low on a given nutrient — not a guarantee of regrowth for everyone. We'd rather tell you that up front than oversell it.

01

Saw Palmetto

DHT Blocker · Serenoa repens

Saw Palmetto inhibits 5-alpha reductase — the enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT, the main hormonal driver of male pattern hair loss. By lowering DHT right at the follicle, it works on a root cause instead of masking the symptom.

What the science says

A small randomized, placebo-controlled pilot in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine (2002) found botanical 5-alpha reductase inhibitors improved hair status in men with androgenetic alopecia. A later two-year study (2012) found the drug finasteride more effective, but saw palmetto still improved on baseline. Promising — from small trials.

Biotin

Keratin Support · 5,000mcg

Biotin (Vitamin B7) is a cofactor your body uses to build keratin — the structural protein hair is made of. When biotin runs low, hair can thin and shed, so STRND includes a generous 5,000mcg to keep your levels covered.

What the science says

A 2017 review in Skin Appendage Disorders found that every documented case of biotin improving hair or nails involved someone with an underlying deficiency. The evidence is strong for people who are low — and limited for those who already get enough. Biotin's role here is insurance: making sure a shortfall never becomes the bottleneck.

03

Zinc

Follicle Regulation · 7mg

Zinc supports protein synthesis in the follicle and helps regulate the hair growth cycle and sebum balance at the scalp. It's one of the most common mineral shortfalls linked to shedding.

What the science says

A 2013 study in Annals of Dermatology compared 312 people with hair loss against healthy controls and found significantly lower serum zinc — most pronounced in stress-related shedding and alopecia areata. The link is clearest as a deficiency worth correcting, rather than a growth booster for people already at healthy levels.

Collagen

Structural Support

Collagen is the main protein in the dermis — the layer of skin your follicles are anchored in. Production declines with age, and with it the structural support around each root.

What the science says

The most robust collagen research is for skin — hydration, elasticity, dermal density. Newer work is starting to extend this to the scalp: a 2024 randomized, placebo-controlled trial in Dermatology Research and Practice reported improvements in scalp and hair condition after 12 weeks of daily hydrolysed collagen. Hair-specific evidence is still emerging.
